No Sissy’s Allowed !I know right off the bat this is going to offend some people. TOUGH. God didn't create us to be a bunch of sissy's, he created us to make a difference in the world around us. As followers of Christ if we aren’t doing something to help other people we should be absolutely ashamed of ourselves. Let me rephrase that, I don’t care what your personal religious beliefs are…as human beings if you aren’t doing something to help other people..you should be ashamed of yourself.I write a lot of things that I know many of you read. I try to encourage everyone the best I can. But today I want to challenge you. Jesus said to pick up your cross and to follow him. That means to lay down your perfect little comfortable life and do what he wants you to do. You see I know many of us don’t have a perfect life. But most of us don’t have it so bad. We may have some issues and some trials in life to deal with but we have a lot to be thankful for. We have warm houses to come home to, or for my friends in Florida nice cool air conditioned homes ( I hate you guys!! Ha Ha …just kidding…love ya!), we have families that love us and care about us, we have cars that get us where we want to go, we have Televisions, Computers, plenty of food, we buy our children nice gifts, occasionally we go out to dinner, we may go see a movie, go to the beach, sledding…. I could go on and on. Most of us live a pretty nice and comfortable life. Sometimes we seclude ourselves in this nice comfortable life, because we just want to pretend that the hell that is going on around us doesn’t exist.I spend a lot of my time down at inner city community centers in Syracuse. There is a beautiful little girl named Jenaya. Jenaya is 12, and walks up and down the streets all day and all night. Her parents are both drug addicts and so is her sister. To make money to buy more drugs her mother has men come over to the house and she prostitutes herself to make money to buy more drugs. Jenaya is scared to go home so she walks the streets instead. Her family doesn’t know she exists. The only time she eats is when she goes to the local food pantry and they give her food. Jenaya’s life is literally living hell. Sadly Jenaya is just one of millions of children like this throughout our country. And very honestly most kids even have it much worse than she does. Jenaya likes to come up to me and rub my bald head, it’s really funny….A few weeks ago I gave Jenaya a hug and told her I loved her and that God loved her. She began to cry. She told me that no one has ever told her that they loved her. Even now as I write this tears well up in my eyes. Guys listen, we can’t just sit back and ignore the hell around us. You can’t just expect ‘someone else’ to do something. Jesus said we are to be his hands and feet. It’s up to YOU to do something. If you are reading this right now God is speaking right to you. He’s saying, ___________ (insert your name here), I want you to do something, I want you to show people my love. I know many Christians who say to me, oh well I’ll pray about it and ask God to help these people. I hate to break the news to you that’s not how it works. God isn’t the solution to the problem. Yes you read that correctly. Ill say it again…God isn’t the solution to the problem. And you want to know why? Because YOU are God’s solution to the problem !!! When God appeared to Moses in the burning bush he told Moses he has seen the suffering of his people and had come to do something about it. Then he said to Moses, now Moses YOU go, and I will be with you. So right now God is saying to you…..YOU go and I’ll be with you.Right now something catastrophic is happening in the city of Syracuse. Over 50% of the city’s youth programs are being cut. These programs are ones that are vital to the development of these youth. Even with these programs there was still a huge gap needing to be filled, but now with these cuts the problem has become astronomical. So what do we do about it? Sit back and wait for someone else to do something? Or step up and actually DO what Christ called us to do.
